Poetry

… for the mere purpose of purging the soul
… to drown out the voices that are not my own
… playing on repeat
… over and over in my head

Standing
On the precipice of greatness
Warring demons
That are not my own
Struggling to catch my breath
To feel the faith
Of the unknown
But you pressed play
And all I hear is your voice inside
The cruel, the hatred and the snide

Derelict soul
You took an innocent, beautiful
Blank canvass
So full of hope, fearless
Eager and alive
But the cruel, the hatred and the snide
Cut, tore and shred it to pieces
Left me lying lifeless
Watching the days go by and by

I could live with the cuts
The bruises
The punches
And the void inside
Yet the cruel, the hatred, the snide
Cannot can be forgotten
For when you press play
All I hear is your voice inside

Wow. That vid was disturbing. I get the feelin’ you wanted it to be so.

The video echoes a lot of what I went thru as a child (sans the cutting, I was/am not a cutter) with the feelings of self-worth/love… and continue to battle thru that acceptance.

If it was disturbing, then hopefully it also made you stop and think…

      That’s all.
The message in the song is powerful.
The video is even more powerful.
      🙂
