I think the addage does not apply

“Not with a bang but a whimper”. Gotta love that old quote by T.S. Elliot in reference to the end of all; how that we will not explode into the void with violence and great force, but will instead slide into the end like a corpse into a night-draped lake. It is quite a poetic (and fucking GRIM) way to describe the ending of something: of an ending not draped in fanfare but one that just kind of drifts out of existence, as if it was a baby’s sigh.
-This quote DEFINITELY does not apply to the Democrats this season.
If you live in the Proletariat, billboards mocking Our Dear Leader are so offensive that the persons participating in the commercial activity of outdoor advertising have to be threatened with their lives! FREEDOM!!!
Note to Democrats: you know your constituency LOVES you when all of the donors (ONE) gives you the vast sum of…. $500. Keep up the good work there mate by representing the People, and by people I mean:
Guys, you know it is horrible…. horribly AWESOME when even the bastion of “progressive” thought is only three to four points ahead of the REPUBLICAN challenger to the throne.
Alright, I’m done with the linkage but not the commentary.
One of the kind of cool things that happens to an American when they work overseas and participate in only snapshot visits to the states is that you tend to have an altered view on the socio-political goings-on. Hell, the last thing I remember seeing in the States was a clutch of idiots attempting to vote on some national health care travesty, only to hear about it signed into law over the news wire / intertubes later while at site. You see, being out here tends to give you a detached view on all of this political garbage as one tends to be more focused on their immediate environment moreso than one that is thousands of miles away and of no direct consequence to your current situation. You want an insider’s view into West African politics look me up, but to actually have a good FEEL of the circus that is going on back home you would have to find someone that is actually participating in it and is LOCAL to it.
-And it is a circus to us, folks, because all we hear about while out here is that the Democrats are about to eat their young and the Republicans are wielding the sword of justice (a gift from the Tea Partiers apparently) and are attempting to strike at the very heart of the issue, which is stagnant government that is bloated beyond the original concept of “by the people, for the people”. Folks, I am coming home in about three weeks, and I have to ask…
…Why do I feel like I am going to have to dress up as Nero, grab a fiddle, and make sweet sweet music as Rome burns? Also, why am I getting this sudden inkling of hope that after the fire something new and better is going to rise from the ashes?
