Wherein the Legacy Media tells us how they REALLY feel

Not that I am one to point out the great divide that separates us lowly blogging types from the high and mighty reporters that actually worked to get a diploma in what us, the great unwashed masses do for our various own personal reasons (and we DEFINITELY don’t do it to rake in that free money awesomeness that keeps getting promised to me in the ole spambox concerning ad moolah), but if this bit from CNN via the guys and gals at Newsbusters doesn’t highlight it, then nothing will.
Anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts discussed the “mixed blessing of the internet,” and agreed that there should be a crackdown on anonymous bloggers who disparage others on the internet.
What, little ole me is intimidating because I use an intertubes handle instead of my real name as to not allow some vicious idiot to chase me down due to a disagreeable review I put on the “canned sandwich” product from Hormel?
Phillips wanted to go even further, asking if “there’s going to come a point where something’s going to have to be done legally” about anonymous bloggers.
Oh really! It never occurred to me that someone that has an anonymous title was so threatening as to require legal action! Hey guys, and you Mr. Phillips in particular: why stop at anonymous blogging? If you are going to take this all the way you might as well hit up anyone that uses a nickname, alias, or any even SLIGHT deviation from their birth name. You might as well lump pet names in too, “schnookums”.
-Richard Bachman, I am looking at you! Can’t forget 99% of all rappers as well as anyone in a sensitive situation such as a firefight that uses a code name to represent themselves over comms. It might complicate things a bit, and in the case of warfare might just cost some lives, but this is all to be done in the name of ACCOUNTABILITY!!!
My actual response to this?
-Come and get us you idiots, for we are legion.
